More Information
Classes- What class should I ride? BayCross classes are a little different than your standard cross classes. In general these are just guidelines. We will generally let you race whatever race you want, especially if you want to race above the level we've described. Sandbagging is lame!
"A" Race- Pro, Cat 1/2cross racers, fast cat 3 cross racers, people that race in the top 1/4 or so of regional mtb races, cat 1/2/3 road racers. If you race your bike "competitively" more than a handful of times a year, you should probably be here.
"B" Race- Pro, Cat 1/2 women cross racers, any women who are competitive in regional road or mountain bike races, or just want a shot at the cash. Slower cat 3 male cross racers, cat 4 cross racers, anyone that races their bike in any discipline a few times a year. This race is also a good option for older juniors (approx. 16-18) looking for a challenge
"C" Race- Cat 3/4 women cross racers, adult beginners of both genders, juniors (approx. 13-18). Note: beginner means you race your bike in any discipline no more than 3 times a year, not that you race 15 times a year, but this is your first cross race.
Junior Race- Riders ages approx 6-12. The future of the sport!
Women's Challenge- If more women than men race the open class over the weekend, I will personally double the women's purse and we'll pay 5 deep. That's a $500 purse just for the women's race! We at BayCross are huge supporters of women's racing, but we haven't seen very big women's fields in the past so we figure we'll give you some extra motivation to come enjoy a great weekend of racing.
Bikes-A word on bikes. You can ride whatever bike you want. We don't discriminate. Bring a bike, ride it fast, have fun.
